Dailekh School Projetct

Encouraged by the accomplishments made in these schools, the RBPOP board has now decided to focus on Dailekh District, and this program has begun since May 2009. See www.rbf.org.np for details on Dailekh School Project, as well as the Youth to Youth to Child Project within the Dailekh School Project.

RBPOP works in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education, particularly the Department of Education. In partnership with the District Education Office in Dailekh, the Dailekh School Project will work all the primary schools in Dailekh. It has already had a three day residential workshop with all the School Leaders (Heads of School Management Committees and School Heads) of all the Schools here in Kathmandu. The official launch of the Dailekh School Project was done by the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal Honorable Subhas Chandra Nemwang  as Chief Guest. On this occasion, almost all the Village Development Secretaries, the District Development Representatives as well as the District Educaiton Office representatives were all present.

Selection and training of 12 Field Officers who will be the main force behind the Dailekh School Porject has been a major component of the Dailekh School Project. They form the backbone of the program, and will be supporting and supervising anywhere from 32 to 60 schools. They will work in close collaboration with the District Educaiton Office, and with the Program Officer of the DSP.

The first involvement of the Field Officers was to get a situational report of all the Schools. They have visited each of the schools within their Resource Centers and have brought back pictures to show us the situation of Dailekh Schools. As shown in the picures, some schools are in a very sorry state, while others are doing a bit better.

Over 900 school heads, heads of school management committees and the representatives of villege development committees and the district development committee as well as the Dailekh District Educaiton Officer and his staff came for a three day training These sessions allowed for total participation from each of the villages, and each of the schools within Dailekh.

Field Officers Involved in Training

The participants get a variety of experience while in Rato Bangala. They get a taste of how to teach the different subjects. Visit Patan Durbar Square for a social studies trip and make a trip book, visit Rato Bangala classroom to see how a classroom functions, take math lessons and much more.

Thirty six teachers from two to three schools from each Resource Center have been trained for two months so that they are able to assist the Master Teachers. 24 teachers will be helping conduct the three week training (STTPT) for all the 1800 teachers in Dailekh.

Dailekh School Project is now ready to take off, the Master Trainers will be assisted to three other people, and in groups of four, they will cover all the 452 schools of Dailekh. They will train in twelve parallel session, and within four months they will be able to cover all the teachers in the District.
